PRE-SALE FOOTBALL TICKETS- Don’t wait in long lines at Camarillo FRIDAY night to buy you ticket to the game! You can buy them here at Rio Mesa on Thursday and Friday from Mrs. Fitz at the Student Window. Cost is $8.00 for students and adults and $5.00 for children under 12.

BEAT THE SCORPIONS!!! Calling all spirited SPARTANS to come out and support our teams as we take on our rival CAMARILLO in our first week of Football. The games are at Camarillo this year, with the Varsity playing on Friday night at 7:00, JV’s Friday at 4:00, and Freshmen Thursday at 6:00. Let’s fill up their stadium with red and black—Go Spartans!

WANTED STUDENT DJ The football team is looking for a DJ to play music at the games.

SPARTAN CAFETERIA Join us for the Spart-a-que evey Tuesday & Thursday on the patio! Thursday is “Street Taco” day on the patio. Condiments include diced onion, cilantro & fresh salsa.

PROGRAM CHANGES Students wanting to change a class must fill out a “Program Change Form” you may get this form from Mrs. Regina Voshell our Guidance Technician located in the front office.

GIRLS SOFTBALL MEETING An informative meeting for all girls interested in playing softball this spring will be held TODAY, FRIDAY, August 29th, during lunch in room T2.

GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS for all girls interested in playing basketball this spring will be held TODAY, FRIDAY, August 29th, during lunch in room 19. For any students that have not had the opportunity to try out for the team.

MINI-SPIRIT WEEK Friday is BLACK OUT DAY…everyone should come to school dressed in black, but not for all you Johnny Cash fans, and join us on the lawn as we witness a new game we are calling “Snag a Scorpion”…

WORK PERMITS ALL WORK PERMITS issued before August 21 EXPIRE ON SEPT. 10, 2014. Any student who is working at a job he/she, MUST COMPLETE A NEW WORK PERMIT. See Mrs. Anderson in the College and Career Center by Sept. 5 to get a new work permit before the old one expires, or you cannot continue to work.

PRE-ENGINEERING PROGRAM Sign-ups are now being offered for JUNIORS AND SENIORS who are interested learning more about careers in engineering. The classes will be held after school at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Port Hueneme one day a week for 11 weeks. You will need to provide your own transportation.Please see Mrs. Gunnels or Mrs. Voshell in the office for an application. All applications must be in by Sept. 1, 2014

SENIORS planning to apply to a four-year college should sign up to take the SAT and/or ACT College Entrance Exam by the December test date? The next SAT test date is Oct. 11 with the Registration Deadline of Sept. 12, and the next ACT test date is Oct. 25 with the Registration Deadline of Sept. 19. Pick up materials in the College and Career Center.

TEMPORARY JOB OFFER: SENIORS who are interested in working as a Pollworker, at Polling Stations for the Nov. 4 elections, are invited to submit an application. You will earn $110 for training and work on Election Day. Pick up information and an application in the College and Career Center.

INTERESTED IN GOVERNMENT OR POLITICS? A representative from Jeff Gorell for Congress is offering volunteer or internship positions to students. She will have a table of information in front of the College and Career Center during the lunch period on Tuesday, Sept. 9. STOP BY the table and pick up information.
