COMMUNITY LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY Any Junior or Senior interested in community work as a law enforcement officer, social worker, crime scene investigator and more, sign up for the law enforcement academy with Mrs. Gunnels or Mrs. Voshell in the office. Students who complete the program will receive 5 elective credits. All applications are DUE by Sept 18. You must provide your own transportation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 including some Saturdays to the PAL building in Oxnard.
PRE-ENGINEERING PROGRAM Sign-ups are now being offered for JUNIORS AND SENIORS who are interested learning more about careers in engineering. The classes will be held after school at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Port Hueneme one day a week for 11 weeks. You will need to provide your own transportation. Please see Mrs. Gunnels or Mrs. Voshell in the office for an application. ASAP
INTERESTED IN GOVERNMENT OR POLITICS? A representative from Jeff Gorell for Congress is offering volunteer or internship positions to students. She will have a table of information in front of the College and Career Center during the lunch period on Tuesday, Sept. 9. STOP BY the table and pick up information.
WORK PERMITS ALL WORK PERMITS issued before August 21 EXPIRE ON SEPT. 10, 2014. Any student who is working at a job he/she, MUST COMPLETE A NEW WORK PERMIT. See Mrs. Anderson in the College and Career Center by Sept. 5 to get a new work permit before the old one expires, or you cannot continue to work.
SENIORS planning to apply to a four-year college should sign up to take the SAT and/or ACT College Entrance Exam by the December test date? The next SAT test date is Oct. 11 Registration Deadline of Sept. 12, and the next ACT test date is Oct. 25 Registration Deadline on Sept. 19. Pick up materials in the College and Career Center.
JUNIOR AND SENIOR GIRLS OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE You are invited to the 2015 Debutante Premier Invitational being held on Sept. 13, at the TOPA Tower Club in Oxnard. Here you will learn about how to become a debutante through the 20th Century Onyx Club, Inc. VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY Earn Community Service credit while participating in emergency preparedness drills. Get made-up in wound makeup and act as a victim of some terrible disaster! Have fun while earning 3 ½ hours of volunteer service! Drills are held about once a month. The first drill will be held Sat., Sept. 20. Pick up information in the College and Career Center.
COASTAL CLEANUP DAY- September 20, 2014 Join others, or get a group of your friends together, and help to pick-up trash and debris from our beautiful Ventura County beaches and waterways.
