SPARTANS FOR A CURE First Meeting Will be This Thursday Sept 18 in room # 9 for the first part of lunch. Please join us! Spartans for a Cure is a service club dedicated to raising funds to fight cancer and support families and individuals that are fighting cancer. We raise funds for the American Cancer Society and the club also picks a community service project each year. See you Thursday @ Lunch in Room # 9.

SENIORS planning to apply to a four-year college should sign up to take the SAT and/or ACT College Entrance Exam by the December test date? The next SAT test date is Oct. 11 Registration Deadline of Sept. 12, and the next ACT test date is Oct. 25 Registration Deadline on Sept. 19. Pick up materials in the College and Career Center.

COMMUNITY LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY Any Junior or Senior interested in community work as a law enforcement officer, social worker, crime scene investigator and more, sign up for the law enforcement academy with Mrs. Gunnels or Mrs. Voshell in the office. Students who complete the program will receive 5 elective credits. All applications are DUE by Sept 18. You must provide your own transportation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 including some Saturdays to the PAL building in Oxnard.

COLLEGEWEEKLIVE.COM EVERYONE should go to this website and set up an account. Then, log in weekly to see the schedule of helpful school and college information, as well as hear speakers and view information about hundreds of colleges. If you “visit” three colleges on their site, you will be entered in a drawing for a $2,500 Scholarship! Over 150 colleges will be online for the All Access Virtual College Fair on Thurs., Sept. 18. Check it out!

ALL STUDENTS Come and speak with a representative from Lasell College, in Newton Massachusetts. She will be at a table, in the quad, outside the College and Career Center during lunch on Thursday, Sept. 18. Ask questions about their small liberal arts college as well as what it is like to live in Massachusetts. Plan to stop by her table.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY Earn Community Service credit while participating in emergency preparedness drills. Get made-up in wound makeup and act as a victim of some terrible disaster! Have fun while earning 3 ½ hours of volunteer service! Drills are held about once a month. The first drill will be held Sat., Sept. 20. Pick up information in the College and Career Center.

COASTAL CLEANUP DAY- September 20, 2014 Join others, or get a group of your friends together, and help to pick-up trash and debris from our beautiful Ventura County beaches and waterways. This is a great way to help the environment AND earn community service credit. Pick up information in the College and Career Center.

UCLA and CSUCI: ALL STUDENTS are invited to hear about these terrific local colleges. SIGN UP in the College and Career Center to come to a presentation from these college representatives during the lunch period. TEMPORARY JOB OFFER: SENIORS who are interested in working as a Poll worker, at Polling Stations for the Nov. 4 elections, are invited to submit an application. You will earn $110 for training and work on Election Day. Pick up information and an application in the College and Career Center.
