What’s Happening

Collaboration Thursdays for OCTOBER is the 30TH

 

JAMBA JUICEwill be here TODAY—Oct 31st during lunch to support Spartans for a Cure.  Come by and buy a fruit smoothie for $4.00 and support a good cause!

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  Earn Community Service credits by volunteering to be a “disaster victim” for First Responder training of a pretend disaster—earthquake, fire, etc.  Make-up artists are needed as well.  There will be many training sessions, but lots of volunteers are needed on Saturday, Nov. 1.  This is a great opportunity for drama students, and would be fun for everyone!  See Mrs. Anderson in the College and Career Center for information.

 

THE ANNUAL ATHLETIC BOOSTER CHICKEN BBQ FUNDRAISERwill be held on SUNDAY, November 2, from 12:00-4:00PM in the cafeteria. Here’s your chance to have a huge, delicious meal and help out Rio Mesa at the same time! Tickets are available from all athletes and at the Student Window for $10. Please come out and support the Spartans!

 

GIRLS’ SOCCER TRYOUTSbegin Wednesday, Nov. 5th 3:15-5pm.  MUST HAVE Cleared Athletic Physical and Grade Check.  Any questions find Coach Rodriguez.

 

COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPSeniors come for assistance with any type of the college applications and or personal statements in room 34 during lunch the following three Tuesdays, Oct, 28, Nov. 2nd and Nov. 18th. Or in the school library from 8am to 12 pm the next three Saturdays, Nov 1st, 15th, and 22nd.  Students MUST SIGN UP if you plan to attend.  Please sign up in the College and the career center with Mrs. Sanchez.

 

STUDENTS ATTENDING COMMUNITY COLLEGECome and join us for the following workshops to learn about the process and explanations to become a college student during lunch in room 26 Wednesday, Nov12(What is community College?) and Friday, Nov 14(steps to Enroll).

 

COMMUNITY COLLEGE NIGHTstudents and for parents come and learn about the different programs and pathways to earn a community college certificate, degree or transfer. Students will receive assistance in the process of how to complete the community college application on Thursday, Nov 13 from 6-7:30 pm in library.

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS Please donate any used costumes or items that could be used for props in Drama class and for Drama Club in room 13.  Drive is from NOW to Nov 15.  Thank you for your support.

 

APEX has started after school in Computer Lab 21. Teachers are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:15. See your counselor about signing up for APEX today.

WESTMONT COLLEGEall students are invited to meet with College Representative from (a private four-year college in Santa Barbara) on Wednesday, Nov. 5, during the lunch period, in ROOM 42.  She will be giving you valuable information about the college and answer your admission questions.

 

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA. Will be here on Wednesday, Nov. 5at lunchtime, come to speak with the representative that have traveled a long way to tell all students at RMHS about this terrific four year college.

 

VANGUARD UNIVERSITY a College Representative from, in Costa Mesa, CA, will be at RMHS on Thursday, Nov. 6, to speak with students about this small, liberal arts four-year college.  She will have a table of information outside the College and Career Center.

 

JUNIORS and SENIORS interested in the performing arts—voice, acting and dance—might want to consider joining the Young Americans College of the Performing Arts.There will be a Workshop, Tour and Auditions for all interested High School Juniors and Seniors on Nov. 22.  Come and see Mrs. Anderson in the College and Career Center.

ESPARTANOS: The Latin American Student Organization or LASO meets EVERY Wednesdayat 12:25 in Room 22.

 

AIR FORCE ACADEMY Any student interested in possibly attending the Air Force Academy after high school graduation should pick up information on the application process from Mrs. Anderson in the College and Career Center.

 

CAMARILLO LIBRARY Want to put your brain in gear come join us for makerspace or an evening of construction.  Team of 2 persons recommended.  We meet EVERY third Thursdayof the month from 6-8pm in the young adult area at the Camarillo Library.  See you there.

 

ATTENDANCE If absent, you only have 3 days to clear an absence.  Come to the Attendance window before classes begin, during nutrition, lunch or after school.

 

LIBRARY BOOKS remember to RENEW OR RETURN your library books.  Library staff is here to assist you beginning at 7am! Students who fail to return overdue books will be receiving phone calls home.  Don’t delay to return them now.

 

STUDENTS with overdue TEXTBOOKS please return ASAP!!!Textbooks can be returned daily between the hours of 7:00am and 3:30pm, the textbook room is also open, for your convenience, during nutrition and lunch. Thank you to all the students who have been returning overdue materials, your cooperation is much appreciated.
