PRE-ENGINEERING PROGRAM GRADUATIONCongratulations to Julian Chow, Isaac Cortez and Joshua Varela who were recognized for completion of the Pre-Engineering Program on December 16, 4 p.m., in the Oxnard Union High School District Board Room at the District Office.

COMMUNITY LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY FOR YOUNG ADULTS GRADUATION was held on Tuesday, January 13, 4 p.m., in the Oxnard Union High School District Board Room.  Congratulations to Julie Hernandez, Stephanie Segura, Ricardo Venegas and Brooke Worth for completing the program.

COUNSELING – Twenty-five families attended a workshop presented by Griselda Sanchez,​Cindi Fredrick, and Kristene Kenney on PSAT results, and college readiness.  Representatives from University of California, Cal Lutheran University, Ventura College and Oxnard College were on hand to field questions.

Financial Aid help is on tap in ZAP.  Ms. Griselda Sanchez will be offering help to parents and students in the Library.  Sign up in the College and Career Center

Counselors are beginning the spring registration process.  This past Wednesday, Rio Mesa counselors visited Mesa Union School to speak with their 8th graders, and will be visiting the other feeder schools in the next few weeks.  Course selection for 9th 10th and 11th grade students will be toward the end of February.

Jostens visited the senior Government and Econ classes to distribute Cap/Gown and Graduation Announcement Order information.  Students who don’t have a Government or Econ class can get the information from the ASB Bookkeeper in the morning…Kirk Raymond, Counselor

UCSB OUTREACHCollege Night/PSAT was held Wednesday, January 21. COLLEGE & COLLEGE CENTERIndian Education Consortium Counselor Maria Kelley, met with students, who signed up for the program, on Wednesday, Jan., 21.  She provided an interesting historical presentation of the “21 Pueblos of the Southwest” and gave out a handbook about life in these Pueblos, including farming, residences, spiritual objects, artwork, etc.

Jennifer Mota, an Admissions Counselor at CSUCI, met with seniors on Thursday who had applied to CSUCI during the lunch period.  She advised students on how to proceed with admissions materials, and reviewed deadlines for taking placement tests and the submission of final transcripts.

On Friday, Sally Anderson, the College and Career Center Technician, attended meeting of Ventura County Career Guidance Advisors at Moorpark High School.  They received information about local scholarships, using Naviance software, and networked about materials for and operations of College and Career Centers…Sally Anderson, College and Career Center
