Late Start Thursday Collaboration Day for April is the 9, 16, and 23

 

DRAMA CLUB is selling tickets, Buy your tickets!!! For the classic fractured fairy tale Into the Woods, our Spring Performance at Pacifica High School’s PAC, on April 10 (Fri @ 7pm) and April 11 (Saturday @ 2pm and 7pm). All pre-sold tickets are $5 but will be $7 (with school ID) or $10 (without) at the door.” You can buy tickets from any Drama Club student, from Ms. Olliff in Room 13 or afterschool from Room 56!!!

 

SPARTANS FOR A CURE CLUB NEWS: We want to thank everyone who brought, worked and bought baked goods last Wednesday—our bake sale was a great success!  Spartans for a Cure is service club dedicated to raising money to fight cancer and help families in our community that are battling cancer.  We have been quietly raising money for Rio Mesa sophomore, Joseph Dobson whom is currently battling cancer.  Thanks for all your donations and hard work!  We are now gearing up for the next Relay for Life” ON SATURDAY APRIL 11 at Camarillo High School.  Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  Mark your calendars and come out and run/walk on the track to support friends, family, coworkers that are battling cancer, have beat it! Or have lost the battle & you want to remember them.  This is the first time in two years they have had the Camarillo Relay for Life during our school year so let’s make a great showing from Rio Mesa!!

RMHS DANCE CLUB is having a fundraiser at Topper’s next Wednesday April 15 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Camarillo location (off Arneill) and the Oxnard location (off Gonzalez Rd). Please pick up a flyer from Ms. Scholler!  Hope to see you all there!

 

LASO CLUB Hey, SPARTANS! Feeling Hungry? Buy a ticket to our Chuy’s fundraiser for LASO CLUB on Saturday,    April 11! Your ticket includes a dine-in meal of 2 mesquite broiled chicken, rice, pinto beans, cabbage salad, tortillas for ONLY $10. See Mr. Todd or a LASO club member to purchase a ticket. Gracias!

SAT PRACTICE TEST Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 8:00-12:00 pm and Overview of test and Critical Reading, Math and writing will be Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 8:00-12:00 pm in room 34.   Please see Mr. Raymond in the front office to pick up a form to register.

 

ALL STUDENTS: Would you like to be a Volunteer Coach? Rio Real School is looking for high school students to help coach their sports teams in boys and girls Soccer, boys Volleyball, and slow-pitch girls Softball. This is a great way to accumulate community service hours! If interested, please contact Lionel Carrizales at (805) 794-1993.

 

APEX STUDENTS! Remember that APEX schedule has been changed for second semester. APEX class is now meeting in Room 21 after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays ONLY from 3:15-4:15.  Late buses will be running. Don’t forget to do your assignments for your APEX class; it’s not just quizzes and tests! See you after school.

WRESTLING Spring Practice have started on Wednesdays at 5:30 in the wrestling room. Anyone interested for next year is welcomed or come see Mr. Flores in room T-4.

 

SPARTAN CAFETERIA Salad Bar EVERY DAY in the main cafeteria will be provided.  See you there!

 

ZAP PEER TUTORS NEEDED  We have an opening for a rotating peer tutor every Saturday at ZAP.  If you would like to help your fellow Rio Mesa students get better grades sign up to be a Peer tutor.  Strengths in any subject are helpful, but Math, English, Science and Word Processing/Power point/ Excel are exceptionally beneficial to our community.  See Mr. Raymond to sign up.

 

DROPPING OFF ITEMS a quick reminder for student pick-up.  All items dropped off at school by parents, such as lunches or forgotten items, should go through the main office.  These items remain in the office and students have access to pick them up during passing periods, nutrition break, or at lunch.  Please note that these items are NOT sent directly to classrooms with respect to instructional time.

 

ATTENDANCE If absent, you only have 3 days to clear an absence.  Come to the Attendance window before classes begin, during nutrition, lunch or after school.  If you are leaving early due to an appointment please bring in a note to the office before school starts.

 

PARKING LOTS Any vehicle not displaying a Rio Mesa parking permit in the front (staff) parking lot will be issued a ticket.  No students are allowed to park in the staff parking.  ALL students MUST park in the student parking lot.  Thank you for your cooperation.

 

College and Career Center Information 

 

ATTENTION SENIORS the Rio Mesa Scholarship Foundation (RMSF) application is available at the College and Career Center or to download from the RMSF Website.  Completed application are to be turned into Sally Anderson at the College and Career Center.  Application is due April 8, 2015.

 

JOB OPPORTUNITY the California State Parks system is recruiting for Seasonal State Park Aides.  You would be helping maintain the State Park to which you were assigned, and will be working at the Park’s entrance station.  The parks are located in the Malibu area.  There is no age restriction.  Salary is $10.18 per hour.   Information is available in the College and Career Center.

 

APRIL SCHOLARSHIP LIST is now available.  There are 13 new listings and many are only for local students!  Pick up a copy on the College and Career Center today!

 

SENIORS:  Keep working on scholarship applications!  You might be the winning applicant! Submit applications well before the deadline date.  Tell Mrs. Anderson, in the College and Career Center as soon as you receive a scholarship award, either from the college you will attend, or from a private organization.
