What’s Happening 

 

Senior Finals June 2nd, 3rd, and 4TH   OTHER Finals June 5th, 8th and 9th

 

THE ANNUAL SPRING ATHLETIC AWARDS NIGHT will be held TUESDAY Night, May 26, at 7:00 pm in the Gym. Athletes from Baseball, Softball, Swimming, Track & Field, Boys Tennis, Boys Volleyball and Boys Golf will be honored. Please inform your parents and plan on attending.

 

TENNIS TEAM RETURNING GIRLS and ALL girls interested in playing on our team, for Fall 2015, Mandatory meeting WEDNESDAY, May 20th at lunch starting at 12:16 in Room 29, Coach Edwards. Bring your lunch.

 

JUNIOR GIRLS:  We are seeking volunteers for the Ivy Chain at graduation.    Volunteers should have a 3.5 or better GPA, good attendance and be available for @ 4 practices after school.  See Jack Rambadt in the office to volunteer.

 

APEX SPARTANS THE LAST DAY for APEX this semester is MONDAY, JUNE 1st.  Please make sure you are taking advantage of your APEX time after school on Mondays and Tuesdays in Lab 21, and on Thursdays at lunch in Room T-7. If you have any questions, please see your counselor, or Mr. Brennan, Mrs. Tchiprout, or Mr. Todd.

 

ATTENTION 10TH GRADERS! Are you interested in the IB Diploma for next year?  Please see Ms. Montero in the counseling office ASAP!

 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS   New season for 2015-2016 will be held July 6 thru the 10th  from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Gymnasium except July 9th.

 

ALL STUDENTS: Would you like to be a Volunteer Coach? Rio Real School is looking for high school students to help coach their sports teams in boys and girls Soccer, boys Volleyball, and slow-pitch girls Softball. This is a great way to accumulate community service hours! If interested, please contact Lionel Carrizales at (805) 794-1993.

 

SPARTAN CAFETERIA We care what you think! The nutrition services department placed a suggestion box on the counter in the front office. We take comments seriously. Please be respectful and courteous. And most of all, be specific and detailed so we can better understand your comments.

 

DROPPING OFF ITEMS a quick reminder for student pick-up.  All items dropped off at school by parents, such as lunches or forgotten items, should go through the main office.  These items remain in the office and students have access to pick them up during passing periods, nutrition break, or at lunch.  Please note that these items are NOT sent directly to classrooms with respect to instructional time.

 

ATTENDANCE If absent, you only have 3 days to clear an absence.  Come to the Attendance window before classes begin, during nutrition, lunch or after school.  If you are leaving early due to an appointment please bring in a note to the office before school starts.

 

PARKING LOTS Any vehicle not displaying a Rio Mesa parking permit in the front (staff) parking lot will be issued a ticket.  No students are allowed to park in the staff parking.  ALL students MUST park in the student parking lot.  Thank you for your cooperation.

 

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS Please return ALL overdue Library and Textbooks ASAP!!  If your books are lost come in to make payment arrangements.  Please return your books or pay for them.

 

College and Career Center Information 

 

GRADUATING SENIORS looking for full-time job.  The Central Coast Filter and Supply Company is looking for graduating seniors to make outbound telephone calls to businesses using a sales script.  Training is provided and the starting pay is $10.50 per hour.  If interested, telephone the employer, Greg Leben, at (805) 824-0215 or pick up information in the College and Career Center.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:   The California State Parks welcomes all students to help run interpretive programs or work in one of the Visitor Centers at Leo Carrillo State Park and/or Pt. Mugu State Park.  EARN COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS and enjoy nature.  Pick up a flyer in the College and Career Center.

 

VOLUNTEERS WANTED AT CARNIVAL:  Camarillo Heights Elementary School is looking for students to volunteer to help run booths at their school carnival on May 29.  You could sign up for one or more 1 hour shifts from 2 – 6 PM.  For more information come to the College and Career Center or call Christine Oler at 377-1498.

 

SUMMER PROGRAMS:  Wondering what you might DO this summer???  You can find travel and study opportunities in the summer programs list that is available in the College and Career Center.  Come by and pick up a copy TODAY as the deadline to apply for these programs is rapidly approaching!!

 

ATHLETES All Athletes in all sports are invited to the 7th Annual Sports Expo.  Learn about innovative training concepts, skills, colleges, health, equipment, etc.  It will be held at the Ontario Convention Center, in Ontario, CA, on May 30, 2015, from 10 AM-4 PM.  Admission is $8 at the door and $5 online.  Information can be found at https://thecollegeexpo.org or pick up a flyer in the College and Career Center.

 

JOB OPPORTUNITY the California State Parks system is recruiting for Seasonal State Park Aides.  You would be helping maintain the State Park to which you were assigned, and will be working at the Park’s entrance station.  The parks are located in the Malibu area.  There is no age restriction.  Salary is $10.18 per hour.   Information is available in the College and Career Center.

 

MAY SCHOLARSHIP LIST is now available in the College and Career Center.  This is possibly the last list of the school year and 24 scholarships listed will expire sometime in the next two weeks!  Pick up applications, read instructions carefully, and apply. You might win FREE $$$$.

 

SENIORS:  Keep working on scholarship applications!  You might be the winning applicant! Submit applications well before the deadline date.  Tell Mrs. Anderson, in the College and Career Center as soon as you receive a scholarship award, either from the college you will attend, or from a private organization.
