2015-16 ANNUAL OUHSD WELCOME BACK KICK-OFF was attended by all staff on Monday, August 31st at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center (OPAC) – 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard.  Refreshments were provided, followed by program.

FACULTY AND STAFF WELCOMED BACK!  Principal Dabbs welcomed faculty and new staff, introduced PFO President Kay Wolverton-Ito, and provided updates, followed by presenting mandatory Staff Development Training.

MANDATORY STAFF DEVELOPMENT TRAINING – “Don’t Be a Headline – Child Abuse Detection and Reporting for the Mandated Reporter” was presented to the faculty by Mr. Dabbs, Principal, on August 31, from 10 to 12 noon in the library.

ASB/LINK CREW – Link Crew welcomed 550 freshmen to RMHS campus at Freshmen Orientation on August 27th, which consisted of an opening and closing assembly between small group discussions and activities in various classrooms.  ASB survived HELL-O week in August to have the campus student-ready on September 2.  ASB is readying Homecoming nominations went out on Tuesday…Carl Melhorn, ASB Director/Link Crew Coordinator/Peer Resource Advisor

CONGRATULATIONS DR. RAY SENESAC!   The Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Ray Senesac to the position of Principal of Channel Islands High School at the Board Meeting of September 9.   Dr. Senesac has worked in the District for 23 years, 9 years as a social science teacher and 14 years as an associate principal at various schools.  He holds a B.A. in Economics from UCLA, an M.A. from CSUN in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Technology and a doctorate from USC.  His anticipated start date is September 14, 2015. Congratulations to Dr. Senesac in his new appointment!

WORLD LANGUAGE Department welcomes a new teacher – Cristina Aguirre!!  She comes to us from Thousand Oaks High School.  She began teaching in Baton Rouge, LA and then came back to California and taught at the Oxnard Elementary School District.   She is teaching both Spanish 2 and 3.  We are very pleased to welcome our newest Spartan!  Martha Jimenez-Ito, World Language Department Chair

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:  Students of all grade levels are welcome to come to the College and Career Center and find information to prepare themselves for future career and college choices.  Mrs. Anderson, the College and Career Center Technician, has been busy informing students that it is now time to renew work permits, if students are continuing in a job this school year.  All permits issued prior to Sept. 2 expire on September 5.  Students are to see Mrs. Anderson for the necessary forms…Sally Anderson, Career Center Tech
