COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER – After the successes honored at Senior Academic Awards last week, Rio Mesa High School seniors continue to earn scholarships.  Brian Nguyen was featured in an article in the Ventura County Star newspaper on Friday, June 2, for having been awarded the $5,000 Julius Gius Star Scholarship.  Every year The Star honors two or three top academic scholars from high schools throughout Ventura County as “Star Scholars”.  The Scholars may then enter an essay contest for scholarship money hosted by the Ventura County Community Foundation.  Brian was chosen as the sole recipient of their top scholarship. Two other seniors were honored by the Camarillo Noontime Optimist Club at a luncheon on Monday, June 5.   Kimberly Hernandez and Kaleinani Nallira each received scholarships of $1,000 for their academic excellence and community involvement.  Each student gave a brief speech about their high school activities and plans for their future.
