VCOE IMPACT II AWARDS HONORING INNOVATIVE EDUCATIORS 2018 – RMHS Honors & CP Biology Instructor, Ms. Carrie Fong, is recipient of VCOE IMPACT II Award for Grant Titled, Growing Plants to Study Inheritance, Botany, and Plant Life Cycle, sponsored by AMGEN! She was recognized at awards dinner on Wednesday, May 9, at Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Oxnard. Congratulations!!!
COMMUNITY LAW ENFORCEMENT GRADUATION took place on Thursday May 10, 4 p.m. at Pacifica High School Performing Art Center. Congratulations to Spartans: Diana Alfaro, Angel Bernal, Norma Garcia, Delilah Juarez, Steven Manzo, Valerie Petris and Natalia Zizumbo!!
CINCO DE MAYO NOON ACTIVITY – Ms. Veronica Renteria’s Chicano Literature students put on an awesome noon activity for all to enjoy on Friday, May 4. Mr. David Gonzales’ fourth period Seniors helped put up decorations. The Ballet Folklórico danced to “El Son de La Negra” and “Jarabe Tapatio”. There was also singing, dancing, and a Mexican Yell competition. ASB provided the sound system. The students enjoyed the variety of booths put up for the food day. Thanks to all who participated and made this event possible!!
CAREER ANDTECHNICAL EDUCATION – Baking and Pastry is working on a cake unit. They made a genoise roulade with strawberry cream. Business Multimedia students are completing a unit on video editing with Adobe Premiere. Mary Wayne CTE Department Chair
SCIENCE – Biology CP explored ecology through food web diagrams and ecological pyramid projects. Earth & Space Science (H) began final unit on Human impact on the earth systems and sustainability with a group project focusing on renewable resources. Each group is completing a formal experimental design with solar cars and creating an infographic on solar power; Environmental Science started unit on biodiversity. B Environmental Systems & Societies began final project taking what they have learned this year and something they are passionate about and making a “positive impact” in the community.
