STUDENT NEWS

Biology CP and Biology Honors classes completed the pH Lab and the Solutions and Suspensions Lab as they continue to explore Biochemistry.

 

 

 

College and Career Center

The representative from University of the Pacific, Mike Daily, gave a presentation to students in the College and Career Center about the majors and programs offered at this private, liberal arts college in Stockton, CA.  He spoke of the close student-to-faculty relationship and scholarships available.

Ninety-five students, from grades 10, 11, and 12, signed up to take the ASVAB Career Assessment test in the RMHS Gym on Friday, Sept. 28.  Their skills were tested in eight areas of knowledge, from math to paragraph comprehension to engineering.  They will receive their results in about a month which will tell them in which areas they have strengths leading to possible careers.

Marine Biology

RM marine biology students volunteered at Anacapa Island Saturday to remove invasive plant species and clean up irrigation pipes from a previous project, and also learn about the plant and animal species of the island.

STAFF NEWS

Spartan Land kicked off Back to School Night on Tuesday 9/25.  There were many parents, students, and staff in attendance in an effort to support our students’ educational endeavors. It was an awesome night!

COUNSELOR NEWS

Counselors, Cristela Arriaga, Sylvia Gomez and Christian Zuniga, attended the 2018-2019 College Board Workshop at Westmont College on September 24th. They learned about the latest SAT information and got a college tour.

RMHS Counselors held 3 UC Application Workshops for seniors on Friday in Rm 34. Students can still see Mrs. Correa in Rm 34 if they need more help and/or have questions on their applications.

RMHS now has free lunch for all students, but we still need families to fill out the free and reduced lunch form each year.  Free and reduced lunch forms are due October 1st.

Students that will be taking an AP, IB, SAT, ACT test this year and want an exam fee waiver need to complete a free and reduced lunch form.  Free and reduced lunch forms are due October 1st.

Seniors that want to apply to college and get college application fee waivers must also complete a free and reduced lunch form.  Again, Free and reduced lunch forms are due October 1st.

OUHSD is also offering a free workshops for parents:

Parent Project:

Parents can learn how to better work with students through a series of workshops. Help improve your student’s attendance, learn to identify the use of drugs, alcohol and gang affiliation. Workshops will be conducted at Pacifica High School and Channel Islands High School from 6-9 p.m. English and Spanish Sessions Oct. 2- Dec. 11. For more information, call 805-385-2765.

Congrats RMHS Girls JV Volleyball Team- they battled back after dropping game one to beat Ventura JV in 3. Spartans Elevate- Together We Rise!

Very proud of our RM Boys Water Polo team! They won 1st Place this past weekend at the 4th annual Bull Run boys varsity open division in Diamond Bar! They played against Sagerstrom HS in the final game & won in sudden death 13-12!!! Spartans Elevate- Together We Rise!

 

 

 

Congrats to Rio Mesa Girls Golf on their big win over the PHS Tritons (234 to 296) at River Ridge on 9/25.  Freshman Alie Crone shot 40 and senior Nicole Kim shot 41.  Spartans Elevate – Together We Rise!

Congrats RMHS Girls Tennis – they defeated Pacifica 14-4 today to move to 4-0 in league! Spartans Elevate – Simul Autem Resurgemus!
