Migrant Awards

Great night honoring our Migrant Education & ELD Students’ academic achievements! Big thanks to Special Programs Counselor, Cuba Montero, along with Claudia Gonzalez & Viridiana Duran for putting this together! Thanks to ELD teachers Michelle Martinez, Veronica Renteria, & Ingrid Brennan 4 support!

Congrats to the Rio Mesa Key Club. Key Club was awarded the “Most Improved Club” award this year in the 42 West Region.

RM ASB & GSA partnered w/Coalition for Family Harmony to raise awareness of sexual violence thru 1st Annual Clothesline Project. Students wrote experiences & messages of support on t-shirts that were hung for all to view. So proud of students for their bravery & maturity on the topic. WE>me!

Congrats RM Culinary Student, Colby Pena, on receiving a 41K scholarship to attend ICC (International Culinary Center) in Manhattan, NY!

Congratulations to Ms. Scholler and the RM dance students on their outstanding performance Friday Night! RM is so proud of her and her dance students. There was over 1200 in attendance and we are truly blessed with all the support! If any of you did not attend last Friday night you missed an incredible show! Outstanding choreography, artistic talent, teamwork & coordination on display! Spartans Elevate-Together We Rise! WE>me!

So proud of some Student-Athlete-Leaders (a great cross-section of all ethnicities & genders represented in sports at RM) who answered the call to learn to lead in the right way with training from Marti Reid & Jim Perry of The Positive Coaching Alliance! Spartans Elevate! WE>me!

So proud of our RM 9, 10, 11, & 12th graders celebrated this past week who were selected as Spartans of the Quarter for 3rd quarter! Wonderful students who have demonstrated the PRIDE it takes to be successful! Spartans Elevate-Together We Rise! WE>me! – at Rio Mesa High School

COUNSELOR NEWS

Reminder to Seniors and families – All credit recovery and A-G repair classes must be completed by May 31st for graduation in June.

We will be recognizing our seniors and giving shout outs about their future plans at our 1st annual RMHS Senior Rally on Tues, May 28th.

Mark your calendars! RMHS Senior Awards Night is Wed. may 29th, at 6pm in the RMHS Gym.

Special Programs

Categorical Programs Counselor Cuba Montero along with PHS and HHS Categorical Counselors represented OUHSD and presented at the National Migrant Education Conference in New Orleans. They presented the Migrant Education service provided in OUHSD as well as the unique structure of seniors and personnel of Categorical Programs.

RMHS Migrant Education and ELD Summer School will begin Monday, June 17th. Bussing is available. Please see Ms. Montero or Ms. Gonzalez for more information. It is not too late to sign up if you qualify!
