STUDENT NEWS

Chemistry

Students in Dr. Sidhu’s Chemistry class redesigned the lab procedure to find calorie content of cheetos. A good NGSS lesson. Students made several changes using, hitting the engineering standards.

IB Chem

English Department

Mr. Tierney’s English II classes are working on group project/presentations that are an MYP bridge between short stories and Fahrenheit 451.  They are predicting what  will technology look like in the year 2070.  What do they hope will happen, and what they are afraid of regarding technology.  

Mrs. Renteria’s  ELD 101 students are exploring “Giving Information” while her senior Mexican/Chicano Literature classes are reading and analyzing the epic poem, “Yo Soy Joaquin.”

Ms. O’Reilly’s English 3CP classes are studying a unit on Native American literature.  After reading an Iroquois creation myth, they created their own myths in a group project.

Mrs. Tchiprout’s ELD 103 students are focusing on Why and How we Annotate and using short stories to practice and apply the skills. Her IB 4HL classes are analyzing the themes of The Grapes of Wrath as well as applying Vogler’s seven archetypes to the novel.

Wonderful ribbon cutting ceremony led by super-supportive County Supervisor Mr. John Zaragoza, VC Public Works & VC Public Safety- RM community thankful for the new sidewalk which significantly increases students’ safety to & from school! WE>me!

Career Center

This week we had visits from 4 colleges in the College and Career Center! Our week started with a presentation from The University of Hawaii Manoa. On Tuesday, we heard a presentation from Columbia University and on Wednesday we had Princeton University presenting during lunch. We ended our week with the University of Santa Barbara on Thursday.
