WHAT’S NEW?

STUDENT AWAKING: Student Awaking in the Gym during lunch on Friday Nov. 15th. Wes Munyon will be here again to speak out to our campus-pizza and giveaways to be included. (Exp. November 15)

CLASS OF 2020: Jostens recently met with the seniors and distributed the graduation/class ring packets. Please take a moment to look at the information for ordering the cap, gown, tassel, and stole (unit), along with so many other grad products to help celebrate your senior year.  If you did not get the packet or need another one, please visit reception in the main office of the school. Don’t miss the opportunity to receive a free cap, gown, tassel, and stole (unit) with the purchase of eligible jewelry items. If you would like to turn in your order directly to Jostens please join them on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019th 1st-6th period in the library during Econ-GVT class. If you cannot make it on that day, you can online  https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1005949/Rio-Mesa-High-School/ or call 1-800-Jostens and they can take your order over the phone. Order deadline date is November 19th, 2019 to receive the group discounted rates. (Exp. November 19).

What’s Happening?

CARING CLOSET: There is still items for those who need hygiene items or jackets. You can speak to an adult you trust on campus or come by room 75. (Exp. November 22)

ADVANCED PLACEMENT STUDENTS: Your AP exams have been ordered for all students enrolled in AP classes. Best of luck AP students on your exams this May. (Exp. December 20)

SENIORS: If you would like to get a fee waiver for the ACT, please see Ms Montero in the Counseling Office during nutrition, lunch or after school. If you could like a fee waiver for the SAT and did NOT get one last year, please see Ms Montero in the Counseling Office during nutrition, lunch or after school. If you already took the SAT with a fee waiver last year, you get your fee waivers for 2019-2020 from your online College Board account. (No Exp.)

Clubs / Athletics                    

TEQUIO CLUB: ¡Tequio se reunirá cada viernes durante el almuerzo en salón 80A y todos están invitados! La primera reunión será este viernes, 11 de octubre. Tequio desarrolla las habilidades de liderazgo de la juventud indígena mexicana para promover el orgullo indígena, alentar el logro académico y abogar contra el acoso de los jóvenes indígenas. Tequio Club will meet every Friday at lunch in room 80A. Everyone is invited! First meeting will be this Friday, October 11. Tequio Youth Group develops the leadership skills of indigenous Mexican youth to promote indigenous pride, encourage academic achievement, and advocate against bullying of indigenous young people. (No Exp.)                                                                                     

College & Career

COLLEGE PRESENTATIONS: This week we will have UC Merced during 3rd period and the University of Oregon during 5th period on Tuesday. Wednesday morning we have UC Irvine during 1st period and CSUCI during 3rd period.  On Thursday, we start our morning with CSU Bakersfield during 3rd period and Marymount California University during 5th period.

Next week on Tuesday, November 12th Chico State visits our campus during 3rd period. On Thursday, November 14th UC Davis will be presenting during 4th and lunch! We end our week with a presentation from the University of New Mexico on Friday, November 15th. There are still seats  available for all presentations. Please be sure to sign up in the College and Career Center. (Exp. November 15)

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA APPLICATION WORKSHOP: Get help with your UC Application! Come to the College and Career Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15 PM – 4:00 PM. For more information please stop by the College and Career Center. The UC Application Opened August 1st and the deadline is November 30th. (Exp. November 30)

COLLEGE APPLICATION HELP:  The College and Career Center will be offering assistance with all college applications before school from 6:30am to 7:45am Monday through Thursday and from 3:00pm – 5:00pm after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Monday October 21st. (No Exp.)
