STUDENT NEWS

Geo Challenge Team

Ms. Kimberly Ma is so proud of our Rio Mesa Geo Challenge Team. They tied for first place in the team competition but we battled it out during the tiebreaker round and ended up winning second place. Our very own Joshua Weinerth placed FIRST in the individual competition. The Geo Challenge competition involves competing against other public and private high schools in all of Ventura County in the area of Geography, so coming in first and second place is MAGNIFICENT!

If you happen to see the following students please congratulate them. Especially Joshua Weinerth for winning 1st place in the individual round!   Kaitlyn Schettler, Jaylin Velasco, Tony Ibarra, Erica Punto, Micha Smith and Joshua Weinerth!
This event could not have happened without the hard work and dedication of the following students: Cassandra O’Reilly, Kiela Garcia, Suzette Garcia, Dominic Reynoso, Jeremiah Thompson, Alyssa Duarte, Valaria Rivera, Taylor Sentinella, Mia Bates, Aidan Holan and Jenny Vasquez.

COUNSELOR NEWS

College and Career Center

This week in the College and Career Center we had two college presentations! We had admissions counselor Caleb Rivera from Humboldt State present on everything this university has to offer. We learned that they are surrounded by ancient redwoods and that 80% of their students receive financial aid! On Tuesday, admission officer Emma Zawacki prepared our students with information on everything that is needed to become a UCLA Bruin! She provided our students with general application tips and test requirements and pointers with the personal insight questions.

Last week California National Guard Sgt Lash Larue visited our campus and brought pizza for our seniors! Any student who is interested in receiving information on this branch is encouraged to visit the College and Career Center for more information.

The College and Career Center offered college application help every day after school from 3:00 to 5:00 pm this week! We will be open on Saturday, November 23rd from 8:00am to 12:00pm and all students are invited to come in and get any last minute questions answered. The deadline for UC and CSU applications is November 30th
