RMHS ATHLETICS MISSION STATEMENT

The Athletic Department serves as an integral part of Rio Mesa High School, and its mission is to provide an opportunity, through athletic competition, for students to develop physically, socially, intellectually, and emotionally.

At Rio Mesa, athletics is viewed as an extension of the classroom in which student-athletes learn to strive for excellence in an atmosphere of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.

ATHLETICS POLICIES

Student-athletes at Rio Mesa High School must be academically eligible with a GPA of at least 2.0 and passing at least 20 semester credits.

They must be well-behaved at all times and realize that athletic participation is a privilege, not a right.

They are to be always respectful to teachers, coaches, officials, opponents, and classmates. In addition, Rio Mesa High School’s student-athletes are expected to be drug and alcohol free.

Congrats Spartans - 14 teams received honorable mention for academic success - Girl's Volleyball awarded academic team champs

Right before Spring break CIF released their team Academic Award winners and honorable mention winners. Rio Mesa had 14 athletic team honorable mentions ( See Attached Picture) along with the CIF Southern Section large school Academic Champion. That was accomplished by our girls volleyball program. ( See Attached Picture) All of this is a huge accomplishment as our Section of CIF is the largest in the state with 562 member schools. The two attached pictures were shared all over our social media but wanted to share with all of you.

The girls volleyball team will be honored on April 24 at Angel Stadium in a pregame ceremony before that night's Angel game. Congratulations to all of our athletes and coaches.
